Quick Answer
Apply for visa renewal 3 months before your current status expires. Submit at your regional ISA bureau or online. Processing takes 2-4 weeks for most categories. Your current visa remains valid while the renewal is pending, even if it expires during processing.
When to Apply
- Earliest: 3 months before expiry date
- Recommended: 2-3 months before expiry
- Latest: On the expiry date (but risky — do not cut it close)
- After expiry: You are in overstay status — consult a professional immediately

Common Mistakes That Cause Rejection
🚨 Top 5 Rejection Reasons
1. Late application: Applying after expiry puts you in overstay status.
2. Missing documents: Incomplete applications are returned, wasting weeks.
3. Unpaid taxes: Tax arrears are checked during renewal — settle all debts first.
4. Job change without notification: If you changed employers, ISA needs to know (14-day notification rule).
5. Inconsistent information: Discrepancies between your application and previous records.
What If Your Renewal Is Still Processing When Your Visa Expires?
ℹ️ You Are Protected
If you applied before your expiry date, your status is considered valid for up to 2 months after expiry (or until a decision is made, whichever is first). You will have a sticker on your passport or a document proving your pending application. Carry it with your Residence Card.
